RARE Madame Hendren Georgene Baby Music Box Composition Doll designed by Georgene Averill in 1936
Near MINT original doll -- Geogene Baby (marked on the nape of her neck) from the 1930s is a PERFECT size to add to your composition doll nursery at just 17" high.
I have only seen ONE other Georgene Music Box baby in 30 years. See my last photo to view her... she was in poor shape and had to be completely restored. This beauty I am offering today has not needed restoration and is in amazing minty condition.
Baby Georgene is an all original doll but for her replaced irises which were blown and clouded. Otherwise she has had no restoration at all. She has NO CRAZING, no cracks, and no flaking or paint loss anywhere. She retains her original pink celluloid fingernails that are rarely found, and favored, on a short handful of composition dolls of this same era. She has healthy blushed cheeks, and rosy accents on her elbows and the tops of her chubby hands. She has 90% of her natural brush lashes and a lovely closed mouth. Her only true sign of her remaining are the soft rubs to her curly molded hair.
Wind up her little music box and she will soothe you and help you fall gently to sleep.
She retains her original softly stuffed cloth body that is immaculately clean. Much like the Ideal Princess Beatrix doll, her limbs rotate and drape 'here and there' to give her a variety of poses much like a real baby. Her kapok-stuffed body is SUPER SOFT and cuddly and LIGHTWEIGHT making her a great baby doll for any little girl to cuddle to sleep 'back in the day'.
Her MUSIC BOX winds with a key in her back and plays a lovely tune that is unknown to me ... but a perfect lullaby to fall asleep on a hot summer night.
As there is almost no reference information about this doll available, and she came without clothing when I purchased her, I have dressed her in a favored outfit of mine, that I have been saving for 'just the right doll' and here is the perfect one -- finally.
Vintage and factory made the dress has all the marks and styling of a perfect dress and bonnet, bloomers, and elegant coat... in my view, the price of the baby dressed here is worth it just for the clothes~
The dress set is in PRISTINE -- as in never worn, never laundered, and NO apparent age patina to the fabric. The set is crisp, and retains it vivid baby pink color that surely complliments her eyes.
I have added a pair of vintage pink cotton crochet booties with an embroidered flower on each toe box.
