Here is a doll to LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE. You are viewing an extremely rare LOVUMS composition and cloth toddler baby doll that has an EDISON wax record phonograph embedded in her midsection --there were SIX blue wax records available for this and a couple of other Effanbee dolls of this same period -- each play a different Nursery Rhyme or prayer.

Purchase of this doll INCLUDES ONE RECORD -- "Now I Lay Me" ONLY

This FABULOUS and rare doll is in near MINT condition with minor repair to help ensure another almost 100 years of 'life' -- beautiful display!

LOVUMS clothing are ALL ORIGINAL -- she wears her original classic blue-and-white striped 'drop seat' pajamas with 'feet' --there is an embroidered opening in the side to accommodate the winding crank on her side to wind the player mechanish.  I have added an 'eiderdown' robe that has a fair amount of wear, but warm and cozy for chilly nights. There is a silk and rayon nightcap to finish her outfit.

Lovums is a TOUSLE TOT (tousle head -- caracul lambskin wig) with composition head and limbs that move freely and securely to raise and lower her arms. NOTE that her fingers have the RARE celluloid fingernails that only a short handful of Effanbee dolls had. Her composition is ALL ORIGINAL but for the repair made to the  side of her face on the right side. When purchased the seller called it a 'mark', but you can see it is a repair and I did lighten it as it was very dark when received. It is not distracting 'in hand' and as this doll is so very rare, I chose to offer her here now. Otherwise the composition is smooth, even toned, and a has a healthy pink glow to it with no crazing.  The cloth body has light overall age patina; the tape on the body is original as that is what was used to help imbed and secure the phonograph.

Her face is VIBRANT with eyes that sparkle with good cheer and, of course, LOVE as she gazes up at you, and raises her arms to be picked up and hugged. They are crazed and the irises have been enhanced.

The mechanical Edison phonograph is in PERFECT smooth working condition and plays the wax cylinders all the way through... I have included a video so you can hear her recite her nighttime prayer.

EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND THIS DOLL WITH A WORKING PHONOGRAPH --  with a RECORD, and ORIGINAL CLOTHING.

I will include instructions to the buyer on the care, playing and handling of the records and phonograph if needed.
