What an ADORABLE and RARE little doll baby... this is a 1937 all composition LITTLE CHERUB doll in Original outfit and exemplary CONDITION... and she is absolutely incredible. She stands just 11" -- a prize for any collector of composition dolls.

Manufactured by the Averill Doll Company which was started by Georgene Averill of the 'Madame Hendren' line of dolls, this exceptionally darling baby was designed by an employee of Averill... Harriet Flanders. Harriet originally wrote a book entitled "Little Cherub" and the doll was subsequently designed to accompany the book.

Very few of these little ones were made, and fewer still have survived well over the years. She is the smaller of the two sizes made (larger one 17") and is as fine an UNRESTORED 11" Cherub as I have seen for quite some time -- head to toe in beautiful condition but for a scant few lightest of light intermittent craze lines in just a couple of spots; and I have added brows which had rubbed off seemingly many years ago now . She is appropriately marked on the nape of her neck "Harriet Flanders / 1937".

This is a beautiful example of this very special doll, and she is presented to you with her ORIGINAL OUTFIT -- pink cotton lawn dress and bonnet -- including her original oilcloth moccasins, and replaced tiny little onsie underneath, and matching BIG PINK FLOPPY "Flower" style Hat.

Have you ever seen anything quite like her?!! I have always loved this little doll, because of her story, and her impish flirty glance is endearing to the heart, wouldn't you say? Doll herself is ALL ORIGINAL but for the added brows -- all painted features are intact, excellent composition all over -- only faint surface crazing in just a couple of places on her legs, that do not show in the photos at all, as well as a small bit of paint wear at the joints and around the neck. It is like she is straight out of a time machine... gorgeous!

Cherub's head rotates on the neck flange easily, allowing you to place her in an 'infinite' variety of poses... really makes her little personality shine. Her body has bent arms and toddler legs -- Beautiful coloring and pink flesh tone lend this little sweetie pie all the desirable characteristics of a highly collectible doll... truly a fabulous find for those who love composition dolls. I have included many photos for your assessment of this sweetest of baby girls... simply superb! Adorable face!

Beautiful blonde molded and painted hair is near perfection with Darling little 'clumps' of sunny yellow color array in a burst around her little head... like a halo for the little angel she is! She has a darling trousseau to bring home: ALL original fresh and clean pink cotton dress with matching bonnet, onsie, original oilcloth moccasins with ribbon ties; the bonnet silk ribbons are fragile and I have managed to tie them in a lovely bow, but I recommend leaving it tied and slipping her bonnet back, as I have done here, should you desire displaying her without the bonnet. Her pretty pink dress has been freshly laundered but a few very light spots remain.... otherwise all FABULOUS and a perfect fit for our Little Cherub here.

If you reference Ursala R. Mertz book, Vol. I "Collector's Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls", you will find a dress variation to this original factory outfit on Little Cherub on page 119.
