Beautifully restored Dy-Dee Lou with BLOND molded curls! This is the largest size Dy-Dee baby made, and was the First Issue produced in the early 1930's. Like so many of these wonderful babies, she was in such unhappy shape when she came to me, that I had her head completely restored. It's a beautiful professional job, and her head once again looks like it came new from the Effanbee factory so many decades ago. Her ICE BLUE eyes are to die for...
The BLOND Dy-Dee babies have only been known to exist and documented to have been produced in the 15" size. I had this little sweetie pie restored with blond molded curls as a treasured anomaly in my private collection... it's been fun having a big blond playmate for my other 20" darker haired girls.
Her original Dy-Dee rubber body fared very well... enough to keep, as it is MINT condition but for a bit of very light remnants of nail polish some little Mommy added many decades ago. I had thought I removed it all, but in the intense light of the camera, I see I might have another go at it. She can easily sit very comfortably and hold her arms in any pose. Her rubber is soft, supple and has a light even tone. Toes are perfect as are the arms, legs and body. As I say, the only sign of wear is on her left hand where there is the very slight residual polish.
I have dressed her in an immaculately clean, Effanbee ORIGINAL DY-DEE LOU pink cotton 'windowpane' batiste dress and coordinating GORGEOUS bonnet from my 'bonnet box'. Underneath is an added newly made slip. All clothing in excellent condition with a couple of lightly worn spots to the fabric at the upper back of the dress. I included a CHIX brand birdseye weave diaper in a whimsical turtle print to keep her comfortable.
Included with your purchase are a darling DUCK rattle that will float in Baby's bath, a small canister of baby powder for diapering and helping make baby comfortable on these hot, hot days... and a banjo rattle to keep Baby smiling at playtime.
